Columbia Pacific CCO is a community of members and providers, working together to make a healthier community and better health care.

Harry Rinehart, MD, is one of these providers, bringing a family touch to the community where he and his family have practiced for generations. He’s the third generation of Rineharts to practice at the Rinehart Clinic in Wheeler, founded by his grandparents, H.E. and Ella, 100 years ago.

Dr. Rinehart would like to cut back to 60 hours a week. That would mean more time for beekeeping, mushroom hunting, fishing or enjoying a glimpse of a lone elk on a silent, misty evening.

There would probably be more time, too, if the clinic started turning away their neighbors who have no insurance or cash.

“That’s not the way H.E. and Ella did it, nor the way my dad R.E. Rinehart did it, nor the way my mother Dorothy White Rinehart did it,” Dr. Rinehart says. “We’re not about to change now.”
