What is happening?

It has been announced that Tillamook Pharmacy in Tillamook will close their doors and stop filling prescriptions on September 6, 2023. All prescriptions will be transferred in bulk to a local Fred Meyer Pharmacy, which is in-network. We estimate around 1,000 members may be disrupted by this change.

When is it happening?

Tillamook Pharmacy made the announcement on August 22, 2023. Their last day of business will be September 6, 2023, until 5 p.m.

Does this only affect OHP (Medicaid)?

No, it affects both Columbia Pacific CCO (Medicaid) and CareOregon Advantage (Medicare) members. All patients (including those outside of Columbia Pacific CCO or COA) are also impacted as this is a pharmacy closure (not a CareOregon network contracting issue).

Is Fred Meyer an in-network pharmacy?

Yes. We understand, by default, all prescriptions will be transferred to the local Fred Meyer Pharmacy on September 7, 2023. New and transferred prescriptions should pay as they were previously paying at Tillamook Pharmacy. As a result of this sudden new prescription volume, Fred Meyer is likely to be very busy. Please allow extra time to transfer and fill your prescriptions.

Do members have to fill at Fred Meyer Pharmacy?

No, any in-network pharmacy can be used. However, it may require additional steps to be taken. They can either:

• Request a new prescription from their provider and have it sent to the pharmacy of their choice. OR
• Ask their pharmacy of choice to transfer their prescription:
  • o On or before September 6: Contact Tillamook Pharmacy to request a prescription transfer (503-842-4181)
  • o September 7 or later: Contact Fred Meyer to request a prescription transfer (503-815-1433)

How can members find another in-network pharmacy?

Here is a list of the closest alternatives. Also, our website has a search tool that can be used to find a participating pharmacy. Choose “pharmacy” in the type of provider and search by ZIP code.

Are there mail order options?

Yes, Optum mail order pharmacy is available. Members can call them at 800-356-3477. For a local home delivery option, consider OHSU Creekside pharmacy. Members can call them at 503-346-3370. You may also contact your local pharmacy and ask if they offer home delivery. 

Were members notified?

A mailing from Columbia Pacific CCO and/or CareOregon Advantage will be sent to all members with a fill at Tillamook Pharmacy in the previous 90 days. Due to the size of the mailing and limited notice, we do not expect this mailing to be delivered much before the September 6, 2023 closure date. Certain high-risk members may be targeted for more direct care coordination.
