NEW! CareOregon will be implementing the requirement of Notification of Treatment (NoT) for behavioral health claims

Jul 9, 2024, 15:55 PM

What is changing and when?

All behavioral health providers who participate in Jackson Care Connect or Columbia Pacific CCO Quality Improvement Incentive Programs (QIIP) will be required to submit NoTs on all claims for 2025 dates of service. If this change applies to you, you may begin submitting NoTs on 10/1/24 to prepare for 1/1/2025, when NoTs will be required on all claims for 2025 dates of service.

What is a notice of treatment?

An NoT is an electronic notification a provider submits in our online portal to notify the health plan that a member is initiating or continuing care. It is specific to the level of care the member is enrolled in, e.g., General Mental Health Outpatient or Supported Employment. NoTs are entered at the time-of-service entry and at specific time intervals throughout treatment to indicate a member is continuing care. Once implemented, the NoT identification number must be submitted on all claims in order to receive reimbursement.

Why are we changing our process?

This change will bring benefits to both you and our members.

  • Providers: Integration of claims data in support of the whole-person view for increased accuracy of reporting, maximizing QIIP incentive payments
  • Members: Improved coordination and continuity of care after receiving treatment at a higher level of care

Does this change apply to you?

Know our CareOregon teams will be here to assist you as this change becomes a requirement for behavioral health claims for 2025 dates of service.

  • Look for communications with important change information throughout this change, both directly to you and here under Provider Updates
  • Know live training and recorded training sessions (dates TBD) will be offered well before this goes into effect, so you will have adequate time to prepare for this change. You’ll leave those sessions with practical materials you can access any time.
  • Expect transition time for this change; Open Office Hours will be offered before, during, and after Jan 2025 – this will be your place to try the new process together, or to ask live questions, before 1/1/25.

If you haven’t already, please submit your email using this online form to ensure you are included in training for this change.
