Columbia Pacific seeks community feedback on supporting kindergarten readiness

Jul 5, 2024, 18:14 PM

In the post-pandemic world, kindergarten readiness has never been more important. Studies show that children who are ready for kindergarten when they start school are more likely to graduate from high school and college, secure better job opportunities in adulthood and have better health outcomes in general.

One of the main ways to measure a child’s kindergarten readiness is by assessing their social and emotional health development. A social and emotionally healthy child can form close relationships, manage and express emotions and explore a learning environment.

Listening to community voices

To improve the kindergarten readiness of our youngest members, Columbia Pacific CCO is working with the Oregon Health Authority to find ways to better support children’s social and emotional health development.

As part of this work, we are hosting four community-engagement sessions this year to gather input on what we can do to support the social and emotional health of young children (ages 0 to 5) and get them ready for kindergarten.

Mark your calendars and register

Who should attend the sessions? We want to hear from families as well as community and clinical partners in our three-county service region. The first three sessions will be held virtually, and the final session will be held in-person during our Community Health Summit, which is free to attend and open to call.
